For the next 50 years I pledge;

DSCF2117

To make myself happy by not doing things that are against my values.

To not allow people to put me down because of their inferiorities.

To believe in a higher power and allow this to fully envelop my life.

To attend to my commitments and family.

To choose my friends wisely and value myself in all relationships.

To practice my art and live a creative life.

To love myself and to treat myself with respect; body, mind and soul.

To be prudent in my relationships with nature and the environment.

To live my music as it is in tune with my soul

To value my heart and to practice kindness and the healing arts.

Magic Moon!

My Magic Moon Manifesto

My journey began some time ago as a small seed that I have carried with me since childhood.  The seed is being planted and readied for growth; developing sprawling branches with leaves that change with the season.   My magic moon has endeavored to bring me the strength of the tree, the beauty of the leaves, the creativity of the moon and the roots to make the magic come alive.

Magic; magic is the creative process by which we learn new things, develop skills for change and let the spirit have free reign over reason.  The Moon is the right side of the brain that calls for mystery, magic and perhaps mayhem.  It is here that hope lives and roots take hold of dreams best had while sleeping.  Those that can live their dreams, plant their creativity and provide their art with roots, will benefit from Magic Moon Creativity Coaching.

We honor the dreams held by the moon.  Those tiny seeds that need an encouraging hand to fold over the dirt so they will grow.  The Magic Moonlight that provides the power within the seeds to develop roots for growth, courage and creativity.  These elements have distinct parts to play; we would have not but for the Moon.

Whimsical sprites that live in the tree bring us together for this journey with the moon.

Oh Magical Moon whose bright light shines on my face as a thousand stars provide encouragement.  It is I, Magic Moon, your student waiting for the creativity to assist me in my manifesto.  How is it that the light which shines so bright feels warm upon my face and bathes me in a shower of golden light?  Does one not see that your very presence is potent in the land of dreams and creativity?

Prairie memories!

Prairie Style; is that what they call antiquing now?  All those years we of like mind who adore the feel of old wood and the secrets hidden in ancient desks have known all along that old is better.  I once found a small Ansel Adams print and many years later connected the print to one hanging in a work place to be followed by a friend telling me that he had been in that location.  Coincidence or serendipitous; this person has become a dear, supportive friend and the print hangs in my kitchen to remind me of the time and place when I was in college.  And now, I have a new friend who lives close to the place where the photo was taken; through this purchase threads have been woven into the fabric of my history.

So, prairie really means a body of land, your land, your place, and the spot that nourishes you, provides connection to the past and provides memories for the future.  I like that!  My prairie consists of the wheat fields of Oklahoma, the mountains of Big Bend and the sprawling places in between.  I find myself in these places and return when I need hope.  I am currently looking for hope, nourishment, happiness; my prairie.  Maybe if I go to the kitchen and cook something, I will find nourishment and remember my prairie while making a memory.

My Mother’s Bed

My Mother's Bed

A bed is not just a bed; depending on where it came from and the road it chose. My bed is simple in design but made of beautiful Maple; it is over 60 years old. It has been my bed since I was in the third grade. I have not been able to give it up.

It is as important to me as the finest china and expensive crystal that I own. It is family; it comforts me, brings dreams in the form of slumber and continues a tradtion of family. My Mother’s bed is now my bed. I inherited this bed from her and given to me by two turn of the century Victorians who purchased the bed for their only adopted child in a time when hope and prosperity reigned over the nation and dreams became reality. Their hope was that this child would have better opportunities; go to college and live in the honesty and truth of God. It was the first bedroom suite that they could purchase for her; she was in high school.

The craftsmanship, dovetailing ad finish remind me of those people; calm, quiet, gracious and timeless. Their dreams created a masterpiece and legacy of family; my family. This bed can’t be replaced; family can’t be replaced. You can roam, run, travel or drive, but you cannot escape the pull; the magnetism of the bed. But seriously, even using this as a metaphor, you can’t escape that which you are. I am the woman who is dependent and independent of thought; strong with fortitude and childlike in her complexities of spirit, who thrives in the inherited bed of my mothers parent’s dreams.

What do you see?

What do you see?

What do you see? One client recently stated, “the beads reaching out reminded her of family ties.” I see the beauty and magic of the season!

On being brave!

Being Brave!  Only a five letter word with so much power.  An yet we don’t realize how many times we are brave.  We may not be slaying dragons or fighting off bandits, but we get up, we go to work, we get into a moving vehicle, we walk the dogs, we pay bills, we take out mortgages, we go to the Doctor and we manage a home life including family at the same time.  Sounds like brave to me.  Sometimes I think slaying dragons would be far easier!

Do you think prehistoric man put little decorations or flowers in their caves?  Do you think that they made the hearth look pretty?  Have we always known that by providing decoration we are in fact feeding our hearts and soothing our souls?  The Romans and Egyptians did it; did the cave dwellers do it?  We do have evidence of pictographs and pottery with pattern.

Is the creation of Art our connection to God; or our connection to spirit?  We need art like breath; many studies have shown that art heals, teaches, and expands the person involved.  In my own experience with clients I have seen the most uncommunicative person participate in Paper Mache.  Did spirit give us creativity because we had to counter the pain and suffering with magic?  Magic defined as beauty, a place to lose your senses, a glimpse, and a turn.  I feel we will be saved with all the color, textures, smells and shapes that this world has to offer.  Don’t you feel it?  Don’t you feel the call?

Looking out the back window I sense myself shedding my clothes and other worldly belongings and going into the light.  I sensed it most profoundly today!  Caught in an obligation and hearing the wildness of my soul calling me.  Today I will be brave.
